The Master’s Program in Society, Technology and Environment is committed to training professionals able to integrate multi and interdisciplinary teams, aimed at land use planning within the socio-cultural context in which it appears.                 Professional capable not only to reflect on man / nature relationship, but to appropriate from methods and technologies available and necessary to land use planning, whether in urban or rural level or even develop new technologies and policies applicable to this process.

Goals

  • Train professionals committed to confronting contemporary environmental issues and construction of rationality to guide the transition to sustainable development;
  • Equip theoretically and practically to work in multidisciplinary teams capable of generating new methods and technologies for spatial planning and capable of formulating and evaluating social and public policies.

Admission / Selection

Graduated students in any field of knowledge, with diplomas duly recognized by the Brazilian Ministry of Education are qualified for enrollment on the selective process for the Master’s program in Society, Technology and Environment,. The selection process includes a proficiency exam in a foreign language (English or Spanish), written exam, curriculum assessment, research project and interview.

Didactic system

The completion of the curriculum is within 24 months, with the possibility of a maximum extension of 6 months. The credits are divided in: 12 credits to be attended in mandatory courses; 12 credits to be attended in optative courses; and 8 credits reserved for dissertation preparation, adding up to a total of 32 credits. Classes are held in afternoons and evenings, from Monday through Wednesday. Other times are reserved for guidance and program’s internal activities.
