On October 24th, teachers and monitors of Couto Magalhães School – Bilingual Fulltime Program attended a lecture that had the presence of the International Academic Coordinator of the International Affairs Center – NAI, prof. Marisa Espíndola, the EducationUSA Advisor, prof. Talita Lopes and Assistant Coordinator of the Bilingual Couto, prof. Igor de Souza. The lecturer, prof. André Hedlund, approached the topic: The internationalization process in the second language acquisition: the cognitive benefits of being bilingual.
The event was part of the International Education Week, promoted be the Academic Coordination of the International Affairs Center – NAI.
Prof. André points that: “people who have studied other languages, have always stood out in the job market”. The week comes as a way of putting the teachers in touch with the internationalization perspective, broadness, and new cultures, he emphasizes.
The NAI Coordinator, Professor Marisa, says that “the event encompasses a bigger project which is the internationalization”. This process is part of the actions for visibility and international consolidation and when we stop and meet with the Bilingual program teachers, “it is because we understand that this is part of an institutional policy that we need to work on an important aspect of the internationalization which is the second language acquisition”. The second language learning becomes the flagship, because with this focused work we shall move forward in the path of the Internationalization of UniEVANGÉLICA.
