In order to train professionals who fulfill this role with responsibility and solidity, the Odontology Program at UniEVANGÉLICA qualifies, for over 40 years, students with healthcare skills, through prevention, protection and recovery actions, both individually and collectively. Disciplines such as Dentistry, Endodontics, Surgery, Implantology and Collective Health, in addition to using one of the largest Dental Clinics in the region, thus collaborating to the humanistic training of professionals that work to improve people’s quality of life and self-esteem.

About the Program

The Odontology Program at UniEVANGÉLICA proposes to form a generalist dentist capable of: working in an interactive way in an integral approach through the social, cultural and economic realities of their environment and transforming it to the benefit of society; establishing interpersonal relations in a humanized way, guaranteeing social inclusion and ethical, legal, Christian and citizenship principles; developing potential for decision-making in the world of work, addressing social issues, proposing solutions through lifelong education; being prepared both to work and to lead a multiprofessional team; working in the current health system and private network, both in procedures referring to basic care with emphasis on health promotion, and to refer to and counter-refer in clinical situations for secondary and tertiary care; taking into account the different perspectives of approach regarding the performance from the life cycles, seeking to incorporate new knowledge to work with technical and scientific rigor

Curriculum

Final Paper

The purpose of this final paper is to perform systematized academic activities aimed at the qualification of a critical professional, familiar with scientific research methods and techniques, and in the elaboration of scientific papers pertinent to the area of practice of the dentist. In this way, the Final Paper aims to articulate and interrelate the contents of the courses studied with the purpose of ratifying, rectifying and / or broadening the field of knowledge.

The Final Paper is articulated with the Scientific Production I, II and III disciplines, with a total studyload of 60 hours, in order to organize and manage the progress of the work during the program.

Internship

The Supervised Curricular Internships are developed in the following courses: Pre-Clinic, Integrated Clinic, Diagnostic Clinic, Adolescent Dentistry, Geriatric Dentistry, Occupational Dentistry, Hospital Dentistry, Pediatric Dentistry I and II, Preventive Orthodontics I and II, Pre Dental Internship, Dental Internship and Interdisciplinary Project on Public Health Policies.

In the courses of Clinical Internship the supervised curricular internship is carried out in the Dentistry Clinic of the Dentistry Course at UniEVANGÉLICA and in partner institutions, outside UniEVANGÉLICA.

In the courses Interdisciplinary Project of Public Health Policies I to VI, the supervised curricular internship has experiences in the different scenarios of the Unified Health System (SUS) and also in other spaces as philanthropic, social, educational, religious, cultural and private services, besides Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Unions, Regional Council of Dentistry, and others.

Extension Activities

The extension activities of the Odontology Program are supervised by an Extension coordinator, who is responsible for all the extension activities developed by the program, and has as general objective to seek ways to achieve the inseparability between teaching, research and extension.

The actions are based on the quality of community care, and a strong link with teaching and research, based on the expansion of clinical care and several preventive actions. The actions articulate the levels of attention to health and promote the academic and teaching improvement, as far as extension is concerned. In the program there are external extension agents, internal and external internships. There are participations in institutional projects, such as:

  • UniEVANGÉLICA Itinerant Citizen Project – Amazon, Education & Health that guarantees socio-environmental promotion as a fundamental right to health;
  • UniCidadã / Ciranda Project in partnership with TV Anhanguera / Anápolis and Goianésia that promotes citizenship and education through health extension actions;
  • Project in the districts of the city of Anápolis and the Interdisciplinary Project of Public Health Policies are developed with the approach of the odontology student to the reality of the general health of the resident population on the outskirts of the city;
  • External internships in hospitals and specialized public services;
  • Free courses in various academic areas (Biosafety, Pharmacology, among others);
  • Monitoring projects;
  • Week for Jesus in partnership with the Methodist Church for clinical actions, prevention and health promotion, as well as other churches in the region;
  • Several SIMPATs in local companies;
  • Social actions linked to social entities such as APAE;
  • Initiatives of Churches of the region;
  • I Cultural Exhibition of the Odontology Program.

Research

The University Center of Anápolis, through the Research and Graduate Studies Coordination, started in 2001 the Institutional Program of Scientific Initiation (PBIC) and the Program of Voluntary Scientific Initiation – PVIC, motivated by the conviction of the importance of investing in research.

The Institutional Program of Scientific Initiation (PBIC) is a teaching-learning modality that aims to give UniEVANGÉLICA’s undergraduate students the experience of questioning, systematization and organization of knowledge, elevating them from the condition of receivers to that of knowledge producers.

The Program aims students regularly enrolled in the undergraduate courses of UniEVANGÉLICA, who wish to carry out activities linked to the Research Project of a Professor-Advisor of the Institution and developed with internal resources or obtained from a partnership with organizations to promote research.

The Program of Voluntary Scientific Initiation – PVIC is a modality of voluntary initiation program for the research of undergraduate students of UniEVANGÉLICA, which also allows the development of a research project of their own, under the guidance of a professor.

In order to stimulate the participation of its students and professors in the programs of scientific initiation and scientific production, the Odontology Program counts on the Research Committee of the Odontology Program (CPqO). CPqO is a board whose purpose is to advise and support scientific research, strengthening lines of research and institutional and interinstitutional partnerships. It is competence of CPqO to assist the program coordination and other superior bodies in the establishment of research policies, to ensure quality and ethics in scientific research, and to organize and manage research actions within the scope of the Odontology Program.

The projects carried out by students and professors of the Dentistry Course must be submitted to the CPqO before sending it to the Research Ethics Committee of UniEVANGÉLICA.

To send the projects the following steps should be followed:

I – The project should be sent to the CPqO electronic address (pesquisaodonto.unievangelica@gmail.com) along with the project evaluation request form;

II – The evaluation request form must be duly completed and signed by the researcher (professor) responsible for the research (APPENDIX);

III – The project must be sent in a doc. file or docx. Following the model provided by CPqO (APPENDIX) available on the website of UniEVANGÉLICA (All the documents of the commission will be available on the website of UniEVANGÉLICA);

IV – The advisory members will have a period of 15-30 days to evaluate the project and issue a report, indicating the conformity or not of the project;

V – The evaluation of the project will obey the criteria detailed in the evaluation request sheet;

VI – Projects in disagreement with the evaluation criteria will have a deadline of 45 days for resubmission to the commission, otherwise a new evaluation will be considered;

VII – The report of the research committee will be issued after a meeting and will be indicated in the evaluation request form if the project is in compliance or pending. All this communication shall be carried out by email.

Extracurricular Activities

The Extracurricular Activities must be carried out by the student from his/her admission in the program, and must fulfill 100 (hundred) hours for the completion of the Odontology Program.

The completion of the Extracurricular Activities is a necessary condition for the graduation and should occur during the term in which the student is regularly enrolled, except for possible periods of withdrawal.

These are considered to be Extracurricular Activities: technical-scientific activities related to the area of knowledge of the program, such as lectures; seminars; technical visits; congresses; extracurricular courses; voluntary placements; monitoring; academic journeys; workshops; electives, among others; Activities related to institutional programs and projects, such as scientific initiation; extension; study groups; Intellectual and technical-scientific production; publications in event proceedings; magazines and newspaper, among others; sports, artistic, cultural, social and humanistic activities such as tournaments; championships; choir; dance theater groups; music; academic representation at UniEVANGÉLICA, Class or Professional entities; Volunteer activity; Charitable and benevolent campaigns; prayer groups; among others.

Other Extracurricular Activities may be analyzed and validated by the Pedagogical Coordination / Responsible Faculty Staff, of Extracurricular Activities of the Odontology Program.
