The student will find the balance between the institution’s tradition and scientific innovations, with up-to-date teaching methods such as the PBL. The Medical Program at UniEVANGÉLICA proposes to train a new generation of doctors, well-qualified professionals, through a modern and transforming process, training them under different points of view, with a broad philosophical-humanistic vision, with strong dedication, focused on the patient, considering, above all, the human being, the Christian principles, imbued with the highest respect, without mercantilism, followers of ethics, aware of religious, social, political, ethnic and ultimately more human differences, with significant psychological preparation and broad problems of the different extracts of our society
The educational model of the Medical Program at UniEVANGÉLICA is based on the principles of interactive andragogy, of a democratic and pluralistic nature, with a methodological concentration firmly established through active teaching-learning methodologies
The Medical Program at UniEVANGÉLICA has as great differential advantages the “community-oriented education” and “problem-based learning”. The first is a characteristic of institutions whose basic objectives and principles are determined by the needs of the community, whose curriculum adopt an integral approach to health and carry out activities committed to the goal of health for all people. The second is a method by which the student or health worker uses a patient’s situation, a healthcare issue, or a research topic as stimuli to learning. After initial problem analysis, students define their learning objectives and seek the information they need to approach them. After, they report what they found and what they learned.
The Medical Program at UniEVANGÉLICA, understanding that the students during the Internship period are in full-time practical activity, chose to carry out a Final Paper, with completion in the 8th term of the program
The Final Paper (TC) has as a purpose the professional training based on the interaction of theory with practice, where the ability to reflect is constantly stimulated. The development of TC allows the qualification of creative professionals, trained in the different demands that professional practice imposes on them. The process of elaborating a TC translates to the student as a sum of skills that is added to his repertoire of knowledge, providing a deepening of the study on a certain subject, in an organized and methodical way.
The TC causes the student to use the assimilated knowledge along the program and points out an effective contribution in the scientific and technological advance. It is of extreme importance because it represents a work that explores a single subject, seeking to delve into it and defining guidelines and resolutions for the theme addressed, in order to contribute to the growth and development of the career.
The PISC engages the student early – beginning in the first semester – in touch with healthcare activities in the community; and makes him/her meet a Basic Health Unit (UBS) and family health teams (ESF), observing how the needs of the area of coverage are met; providing professors and students with multiprofessional and interdisciplinary teamwork; being developed throughout the year.
The student of the Medical Program at UniEVANGÉLICA carries out internships throughout the program in hospitals in Anápolis and in the region (Santa Casa de Anápolis, Hospital Evangélico Goiano. Hospital de Urgências de Anápolis, Basic Health Units). The internship in public and private hospitals of the Health Service network provides students with the reality of the profession and produces a distinguished preparation to face the challenges as a future medical professional.
The internship of the Medical Program is an obligatory phase and the student receives training in service under the supervision of preceptors and professors of the network (SUS). It lasts two years and covers five areas: Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Surgical Clinic, Pediatrics and Collective Health / Family and Community Medicine, covering the three levels of healthcare (primary, secondary and tertiary).
The internship is based on the development of skills and competences, developed in progressive stages that comprise from knowledge to the most important stage of the teaching-learning process which is the actual performing.
Extension, understood as one of the basic functions of the university, is characterized by its systematic interaction with the community, aiming to contribute to its development and to seek knowledge and experiences for the evaluation and revitalization of teaching and research.
Extension activities are considered to be any type of conduct involving: programs, projects, events, courses, services, production and publications; related to the thematic areas held in the name of the University Center of Anápolis, inside or outside the Institution. These activities may or may not be included in the teaching plans.
One of the proposals of the Medical Program is to combine teaching, research and extension. This is easily observed within the PISC discipline, which promotes extension activities in the community and encourages the development of research within the community, which generates scientific works that are presented during the annual academic exhibition and also in other scientific events.
In addition, there are several extension activities that the Medical Program participates, including outside the university. We can highlight: the Ação Global, project in partnership with Rede Globo and that serves the Anápolis community; Project Ciranda, in which there are various healthcare and legal activities, and education workshops, which serves an average of 30 thousand people.
The Medical Program also established partnerships with the city health department where a training course was developed for professionals of the city health department on breastfeeding in the year 2011, and several workshops were offered and several medical students had an opportunity to participate as monitors and organizers of the event.
Outreach actions designed in this perspective are carried out with technical and scientific quality, and serve a significant local, regional and national population.
In the Medical School, the Academic Leagues have a prominent position – formed with the main objective of positively increasing the academic training of the student members. They are organized by students and professors, characterized as extracurricular activities and develop community actions, scientific events and research activities.
UniEVANGÉLICA considers research as a catalyzing element of scientific, technical, humanistic and ethical knowledge, which, articulated to teaching and extension, plays a relevant role in the production of knowledge, fostering theoretical-empirical involvement and professional training through the exercise of reflection.
The student has the possibility of carrying out research, under the orientation of a teacher, within one of the following programs:
A) Scientific Initiation Scholarship Program (PIBIC) is a teaching-learning modality that aims to offer undergraduate students of this Higher Education Institute the experience of questioning, systematization and organization of knowledge, elevating them from the condition of receivers of information to actors of the production of their own knowledge.
B) Voluntary Initiation Program (Pro-InCiV) is a program aimed at the voluntary initiation of the research of undergraduate students of UniEVANGÉLICA, by stimulating productive researchers in the sense of involving undergraduate students in scientific, technological and artistic-cultural activities.
These are activities of a scientific, cultural and academic nature, provided in the curriculum of the program and which aim at the development of studies of the interest of students and promote the diversification of educational spaces.
These activities aim at completing the curriculum of the programs and enriching it with independent practices, with studies that include an immense variety of options, such as: monitoring, internships, scientific initiation programs, extension programs, research projects, participation in seminars, artistic-cultural events, congresses, symposia, conferences, etc.
